Description

Flowerpot Island Lighthouse was pushed off the cliff in 1969 and replaced with a steel tower and range light we see today. Concerned for the deterioration of the lightstation, Friends of Fathom Five and the Canadian Coast Guard came to an agreement and handed over operations to the Friends  and the lightstation maintenance and restoration began in 1996.

Flower Pot Island is part of Fathom Five National Marine Park, and is famous for the two rock pillars or sea stacks on its eastern shoreline. There are 4.3 kilometers of well marked trails that cover the east side of this 200 hectare Island and limited dockage at Beachy Cove for shallow draft vessels. If you would like to stay overnight there are six campsites, or "Friends of Fathom Five" volunteers can stay at one of the old light keepers residences.
